This last week we found ourselves on the ground in San Francisco with the Airborn Medicine man perusing some of his old stomping grounds. It was a day full of rich stories and colorful characters. What was really great was the opportunity to revisit an area of the Airborn Medicine Mans life that held such significance. While there, we escaped up to a tall vantage point at the top of a small hill that seemed to be at the center of the city. We were going to capture a time laps of the city. Directly behind us was a tall radio like tower that shot up into the heavens for what seemed like miles. The looming tower seemed to vanish into the heavens as a dense gray fog blanketed the valley and covered the city. While standing there I glanced over and noticed a branding on the side of a spotting scope, it read, “point of view.”
Now to many people you would think this was simply a way of describing the use of the device. However, if you are on a journey like the ABMM then you would quickly liken this to the struggle he has been on, the journey and the revolution that has consumed more than 50 years of his life. There we were standing over the city that birthed a revolution with a small scope that read point of view. I would imagine we all have a point of view…our own unique perspective skewed by our personal experiences and life journey. One thing I thought was, what would it take to change an individuals point of view. The cannabis journey has been one fraught with embroiled battles over what is legal and what is not…all this subject to the persons point of view. I imagine if someone who hated the idea of legalized cannabis was facing a life threatening struggle with cancer their point of view might change on the subject. I think it’s too easy to stand on the mountain and have a point of view from our lofty castles steeped in hypocrisy. No matter what “point of view” you may have on the subject, be open to the idea that our opinions can and usually do change on topics like cannabis and the like when we personally come down off our mountain and are forced to face the reality of it’s journey personally. In the end no matter who you are at the end of your life as you face the after…..Everyone want’s the opportunity to relax and go out peacefully…In those cases some people just wanna get high. Enjoy the ride!
